The United States and Ukraine signed an agreement regarding access to Ukrainian minerals on Wednesday, Bloomberg news agency reported. The agreement will provide the United States with privileged access to new investment projects that will allow the development of Ukraine’s natural resources, including aluminum, graphite, oil, and natural gas.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury confirmed the agreement, which will create an “investment fund for reconstruction,” following weeks of bilateral negotiations on access to Ukrainian natural resources.
In a video posted on X, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, “This partnership allows the United States to invest jointly with Ukraine, unlocking Ukraine’s growth assets, mobilizing talent, capital, and American governance standards that will improve Ukraine’s investment climate and accelerate the country’s economic recovery.”
