An extraordinary summit of the double troika of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) will take place in the first week of June in the city of Maputo.
The announcement of the meeting was made this Saturday in the city of Matola, Maputo province, by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, during the opening of the fourth ordinary session of the Central Committee of the Frelimo party.
The meeting will discuss the security situation in Mozambique, specifically terrorism in Cabo Delgado province and the attacks by the self-proclaimed Renamo military junta in the center of the country.
“We need and want support without proclaiming our resignation in this process of defending the homeland and defending our freedom. It is in this path that next week we had the initiative to convene another extraordinary summit of the double troika which will have as its central theme, the security situation in Mozambique, contrary to those who stubbornly say that Mozambique does not need support,” he said.
