Chinese agricultural technology demonstration centres in Mozambique, notably in Maputo, Gaza and Sofala provinces, have already helped to train more than 3,000 farmers in the African country, according to the People’s Daily.
According to a report in the Chinese state newspaper published this week, Chinese experts have helped to test more than 80 types of crops in Mozambique, including rice, maize, cotton, soya and sesame.
According to the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the centres established in Mozambique had been included by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China in the first batch of international agricultural demonstration centres promoted by the country abroad, in an initiative that benefited 10 partner nations.
Investment in the centres in Mozambique reached 418 million renmimbi (US$63.8 million), including 151 million renmimbi for the development of support infrastructures, CCPIT said.
