Businessmen in Cabo Delgado Want Total to Pay for Contracted Goods

The business sector in Cabo Delgado is concerned and assures that it is trying to make contacts with the French oil company Total to pay for goods and services already contracted.

The number of companies in this situation and the amounts involved were not revealed by the business council of Cabo Delgado.

The suspension of Total’s activities and the withdrawal of its employees from the Afungi peninsula, in Palma, right after the March 24th attacks, is stirring the business class.

For businessman Ossif Osman “first we need to know if they will return, then under what conditions they will return. What are the conditions that Total imposes”.

However, Mozambican companies are seeking a rapprochement with the French oil company in order to be paid for the goods and services already contracted.

Júlio Sethy, president of the business council of Cabo Delgado, emphasizes that they will “support our companies, at least, so that they are reimbursed with the values of goods already supplied and goods in stock and in transit.
