CPLP Strengthens Political-Diplomatic Coordination with Equatorial Guinea

The Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) strengthened its political-diplomatic coordination with Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday. The milestone took place during a meeting between the CPLP’s Executive Secretary, Fátima Jardim, and the Permanent Representative of Equatorial Guinea to the CPLP, Ambassador Tito Mba Ada, according to an official statement.

The meeting focused on the coordination and alignment of topics to be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the Permanent Consultation Committee, scheduled for September 18, 2025.

During the meeting, the CPLP official expressed gratitude for the visit of the Equatorial Guinean diplomat and shared the strategic steps being taken to ensure the full implementation of the agenda set at the most recent Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP, held in Bissau on July 18 of this year.

The statement also highlights that Fátima Jardim, who recently took office as Executive Secretary of the CPLP, is responsible for coordinating and implementing the decisions issued by the Conference of Heads of State and Government, the Council of Foreign Ministers, and the Permanent Consultation Committee.

Her duties also include planning and executing CPLP programs, organizing and participating in meetings of the Community’s various bodies, and monitoring the implementation of the organization’s decisions and initiatives.

The CPLP is composed of nine Member States: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste.
