Business turnover in Cape Verde’s services sector grew 6.7% year-over-year in the first quarter, the country’s National Institute of Statistics (INE) announced on Monday (the 15th).
“The sectors of trade, automobile repair, transportation, and warehousing made the most significant contributions,” the institution reported in its bulletin on Service Sector Activity Indicators (IASS).
Full-time and total employment rates recorded positive year-on-year changes of 0.3% and 2.3%, respectively.
The gross wages index recorded a 6.6% year-over-year increase.
The figures continue a trend already observed at the end of 2025: turnover in the Cape Verdean services sector had already grown by 4.5% year-on-year in the fourth quarter.
The data are derived from direct data collection and measure changes relative to the base year of 2014.
