Andrada Mining has confirmed the commencement of Phase 2 of its expansion programme at the Uis tin mine in Namibia, signalling a strategic move to increase production capacity and extend the mine’s operational footprint. Central to this phase is the construction of a second 100 tonnes-per-hour (t/h) tin processing jig plant.
The new facility is designed to operate alongside the existing plant without disrupting current production. Its modular configuration will allow Andrada to expand into nearby pegmatite zones efficiently, offering enhanced flexibility in resource utilisation and site development.
The processing plant will incorporate a comprehensive three-stage primary crushing and screening circuit, followed by a jigging section and shaking tables. It is engineered to handle a wide range of tin ore grades, and the resulting tin concentrate is expected to match the quality of that produced by the existing plant, ensuring consistency in output and product standards.
To finance the expansion, Andrada secured a US$2.5 million facility in February 2025 from LC Abelheim, acting as trustee of The Orange Trust. As Andrada’s largest shareholder, The Orange Trust holds a 15.81% stake in the company’s issued ordinary shares, underscoring strong investor backing for the project.
The expansion is a key component of Andrada’s broader strategy to increase tin output and drive long-term growth through operational scalability. By targeting nearby mineralised zones and enhancing processing infrastructure, the company is positioning itself to meet growing demand for tin—a critical metal in electronics and renewable technologies.
The Uis mine, one of Africa’s most prominent tin operations, continues to play a pivotal role in Namibia’s mining sector. This next phase of development not only boosts production potential but also reinforces Andrada’s commitment to sustainable growth and value creation in the region.
