And the Ten African Countries With the Highest Fuel Prices in November 2025 Are…

Across Africa, rising fuel prices continue to test economic stability, drive up household expenses and put pressure on industrial production. As global oil prices fluctuate and local currencies depreciate, many African countries struggle to keep energy affordable.

The impact is felt across all sectors — from transport and food prices to production costs and government budgets.

The latest fuel price increase in Egypt may highlight this growing concern. In mid-October, as reported by APNews, the Egyptian Government raised the price of 92-octane petrol from 17.25 pounds (USD 0.36) to 19.25 pounds (USD 0.40) and the price of 95-octane petrol from 19 pounds (USD 0.40) to 21 pounds (USD 0.44).

The country has been battling rising inflation rates while coping with daily expenses that peaked last year. These included a depreciation of the Egyptian pound against other currencies, increases in fuel prices and higher metro fares.

Energy costs have contributed significantly to this economic strain, underscoring the importance of government management of fuel prices.

Egypt, like many other African countries, faces the challenge of balancing fiscal responsibility and social welfare. Cutting fuel subsidies helps stabilise the budget, but it risks worsening poverty.

The situation mirrors Nigeria’s post-subsidy struggles and Kenya’s fuel-linked inflation, demonstrating how energy costs shape broader economic realities across the continent.

Below is the table of the ten African countries with the highest fuel prices in November 2025, according to data from Global PetrolPrices.

The global average fuel price remained steady at USD 1.29 per litre, consistent with the previous month. However, only Côte d’Ivoire and Uganda saw a decline in prices.

In contrast, prices in Malawi, the Central African Republic, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Seychelles rose slightly. Fuel prices in Kenya remained unchanged.
