In August 2025, Angola produced 32,074,313 barrels of oil, an increase of 1,112,861 barrels compared to July. Daily output averaged 1,034,655 barrels, falling short of the projected 1,086,727 barrels per day, marking the sixth consecutive month the country missed its production targets.
The National Agency for Oil, Gas, and Biofuels (ANPG) cited scheduled shutdowns, natural reservoir decline, and technical constraints as key factors.
Of the total production, 31,908,355 barrels were lifted, with 30,441,284 barrels exported and 1,467,071 barrels delivered to Luanda Refinery. Lifting was carried out by various concessionaires: 38% by the main operator, 13% by SNL UNEP, and 6% by SNL E.P.
During the month, 12 drilling units were active, working on 26 wells, including production, injection, and exploration wells, as well as suspended and abandoned wells.
Associated gas production reached 81,696,000 cubic feet, partially reinjected to maintain reservoir pressure, supplied to the LNG plant, and used for power generation. The Angola LNG plant exceeded expectations, producing 4,936,748 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE), roughly 9% above forecast. LPG output totaled 399,414 barrels.
Summary: While August saw a monthly production increase and strong LNG performance, Angola continues to face challenges in meeting its daily oil output targets.
