FPSO Agogo Exports First Crude Oil Shipment

The Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit Agogo completed its first crude oil shipment on September 3, from Block 15/06 located in the Lower Congo Basin, offshore Angola. The FPSO Agogo began crude oil production on July 29, 29 months after its announcement in February 2023. It serves as the centerpiece of the Agogo Integrated West Hub (Agogo IWH) project, offshore Angola, which plans the development of two fields, Agogo and Ndungu, in the western hub of Block 15/06.

The Agogo FPSO is currently one of the most advanced offshore oil production platforms in the world, built and operated by Yinson Production to support the additional development of Block 15/06 through the Agogo Integrated West Hub, operated by Azule Energies with a 36.84% stake, in partnership with Sonangol P&P (36.84%) and Sinopec International (26.32%).

The Agogo and Ndungu fields have estimated reserves of approximately 450 million barrels, with peak production projected at 175,000 barrels per day, to be produced across two FPSOs (Agogo and Ngoma).

According to Angola Oil & Gas, the authorization to begin shipments was granted by the President of the Republic during the opening session of the AOG 2025 conference.

The FPSO is equipped with a pilot carbon capture and storage (CCUS) unit to recover residual CO₂ volumes, making it a pioneer in Angola and globally at a pilot scale. Additionally, the FPSO features combined-cycle power generation.
