Platform positions itself as strategic for alignment between the Government, national and international operators, and investors in the global oil and energy sector.
Angola has a portfolio of oil sector projects estimated at USD 70 billion, a potential that will be highlighted at this year’s Angola Oil & Gas Conference, taking place in Luanda on 9 and 10 September under the theme “Investing in Angola’s Future.”
With flexible regimes for blocks, a commitment to the rehabilitation of mature fields, and abundant partnership opportunities, Angola reaffirms its position as a “safe and attractive destination” for oil investment in Africa, according to a statement from the conference organisers.
“Angola is entering a decisive phase of growth and consolidation in the oil and gas sector. We have already laid the foundations, and 2026 will be the year to convert projects into production and real economic impact,” said the Secretary of State for Oil and Gas during the official launch of the Angola Oil & Gas Conference 2026.
José Barroso noted that Angola is witnessing a “significant return” to onshore exploration, with seismic acquisition and drilling in the Lower Congo and Kwanza blocks, opening up new opportunities for production and diversification of the country’s oil base.
Meanwhile, Luís Conde, Director of the Angola Oil & Gas Conference, also quoted in the statement, explained that the event serves as a space to build strategic partnerships, share knowledge and “accelerate investments that will define the country’s energy future” over the next 50 years.
The document, accessed by E&M, highlights that Angola continues to maintain a competitive and credible investment environment, attracting both major international operators and new entrants bringing capital, technology and expertise.
The licensing round launched in 2025, the statement recalls, offers new offshore concessions in the Kwanza and Benguela blocks, strengthening opportunities for established operators as well as new investors.
The Angola Oil & Gas Conference is the leading platform dedicated to the future of oil and gas in the country, bringing together experts, investors and decision-makers from around the world to promote transformative agreements that drive Angola’s development as a regional energy powerhouse.
