Standard Bank Angola Shares Surge 49% in Three Days as BODIVA Session Tops 979M Kwanzas

Standard Bank Angola (SBA) shares closed at 78,000 kwanzas on Friday, accumulating a gain of approximately 49% across just three sessions on BODIVA's secondary equity market — cementing the recently listed bank's position as the dominant force in Angolan equities.

The share price advance has been accompanied by exceptionally heavy trading activity, with the stock attracting the bulk of market liquidity at each session since its listing.

Friday's session saw SBA record a daily gain of 4%, with the share price rising from 75,000 kwanzas to 78,000 kwanzas by the close of trading.

A total of 19,864 SBA shares changed hands across 139 transactions, generating a turnover of approximately 818.98 million kwanzas — equivalent to 83.60% of the entire value traded across the bourse during the session.

SBA's performance remains the defining story of the Angolan equity market, both for the pace of its appreciation and for the concentration of liquidity around the single title, raising the profile of Angola's nascent secondary market.

Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA) also delivered a notable result on Friday, reclaiming the 100,000-kwanza-per-share threshold following a daily gain of 1.01%.

BFA's session comprised 14 transactions involving 56 shares, for a combined value of 5.6 million kwanzas.

Banco Angolano de Investimentos (BAI) was the next most active banking stock, closing at 98,500 kwanzas per share after rising 1.55% on the day.

A total of 41 BAI shares were traded through 18 transactions, generating a volume of 4.04 million kwanzas.

Telecommunications operator Unitel continued to record meaningful participation in the session, with its share price advancing 2.01% to 30,500 kwanzas.

Unitel registered 128 transactions involving 4,215 shares, producing a turnover of 128.56 million kwanzas — representing 13.16% of total session value, making it the second-largest contributor to market volume on the day.
