Lamborghini is preparing to expand the Temerario lineup — the high-performance plug-in hybrid supercar that succeeds the Huracán — with new variants including a convertible, a track-oriented version, and a possible derivative inspired by the Huracán Sterrato, a model designed for use on more demanding terrain.
Unveiled in 2024, the Lamborghini Temerario is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system combining a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with three axial-flux electric motors, delivering a combined output of 920 horsepower.
The range expansion strategy was outlined by Paolo Racchetti, Lamborghini’s product line director, in comments to Australian publication CarExpert. According to Racchetti, the Temerario’s architecture was developed to allow for different configurations and applications through the combination of its combustion engine and electric system.
In its current configuration, the V8 produces 800 hp, while the three electric motors contribute additional power to the hybrid system. According to information previously disclosed by the brand’s technical chief, Rouven Mohr, future high-performance versions could exceed 1,014 hp of combined output.
Among the confirmed variants is the Temerario Spyder, a convertible version that has already been spotted during testing and is expected to be unveiled in 2027. The model is expected to retain the coupé’s mechanical platform but will feature a retractable roof and modifications to the rear section.
Beyond the Spyder, Lamborghini is evaluating further interpretations of the supercar. Racchetti pointed to the possibility of a sportier variant with characteristics similar to those of the Huracán Tecnica, as well as a version more oriented towards track use, potentially inspired by the brand’s GT3 and Super Trofeo competition models.
Another possibility under consideration is a version analogous to the Huracán Sterrato, characterised by enhanced capability on surfaces beyond tarmac. Racchetti did not confirm that such a model is in development, but stated that the possibility has not been ruled out.
The executive also noted that the Temerario’s architecture was designed to respond to different missions, which could allow Lamborghini to explore new niches within its range. The brand, however, continues to prioritise the coupé, convertible, and high-performance variants.
With this strategy, the Temerario could follow a trajectory similar to that of the Huracán, which over its lifecycle gave rise to numerous versions with varying performance levels and use-case characteristics.
