TIS Angola Defines Plan for Digital Agriculture

The digitalization of agriculture could be a crucial driver for Angola’s economic growth by enabling greater efficiency, productivity, and sustainability in the agricultural sector, argued Sandra Camilo, Operations Director of Technology, Innovation and Solutions (TIS), speaking yesterday in Luanda to Jornal de Angola. She emphasized that digital agriculture should be considered one of the country’s main priorities for the future, especially regarding the modernization of rural areas and the inclusion of rural communities in the digital economy.

“We are developing specific technological solutions for the agro-livestock sector aimed at remote monitoring of plantations, weather forecasting, irrigation management, and production traceability, which represent tools that can help reduce losses and improve decision-making by farmers,” she noted.

According to the expert, TIS’s solutions integrate components of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Hyper Automation, which facilitate the dematerialization of processes and real-time data collection.

Sandra Camilo highlighted that TIS’s solutions make agricultural systems more agile, less bureaucratic, and better adapted to current challenges. She added that digital transformation in the agricultural sector could generate significant social impacts, particularly empowering farming families, creating technology-related jobs, and combating food insecurity.

“When technology is introduced in the countryside, we are not just talking about innovation, but social justice. In fact, it is a way to ensure that more Angolans have access to better living conditions and concrete opportunities for economic progress,” she stated.

TIS acts as a partner in various public and private initiatives, offering consultancy in processes, business modeling, and the development of customized solutions. The unit has a local software factory that allows tailoring tools to Angola’s reality.
