Yango has been named the Most Reliable App-Based Transport Service Provider in Southern Africa at the Southern African Brand Quality Awards (SABQA) 2026, an accolade recognising the company's performance across service quality, customer experience and operational excellence.
The ride-hailing platform also received the Brand Quality Excellence Seal, awarded for compliance with quality standards aligned with internationally recognised benchmarks.
According to Yango, the recognition reflects its sustained investment in technology and solutions designed to address the mobility needs of African cities, against a backdrop of rapidly shifting commuting habits and growing demand for digital services.
Across Southern Africa, the platform operates in Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia, offering services tailored to the characteristics of each market. Beyond ride-hailing, Yango provides — depending on the country — food and parcel delivery, freight logistics, corporate mobility and a range of other digital solutions.
The platform connects millions of users with thousands of driver partners, couriers and local businesses. The company's strategy centres on combining global technology with on-the-ground knowledge of local conditions, with the aim of developing solutions suited to community needs.
The award comes at a time when Yango has been stepping up investment in technologies designed to enhance safety and build user trust. Over the past year, the company has introduced new safety features across its Southern African markets, with the objective of improving transparency and strengthening the relationship between passengers and driver partners.
Among the new tools is a Passenger Complete Profile Badge, which allows drivers to identify users who have provided essential account information, including their full name and a selfie photograph.
The company says the feature gives drivers greater visibility before they accept a trip, contributing to higher levels of accountability and trust between platform users.
Yango also says it is developing one of the most comprehensive in-app safety ecosystems in the region, providing users with protective resources before, during and after trips.
In parallel, the company has been promoting initiatives aimed at strengthening local mobility ecosystems, including driver training programmes, road safety awareness campaigns, partner support schemes and community projects.
The SABQA 2026 distinction comes at a moment of expansion for Yango across Southern Africa, reinforcing the company's strategy of consolidating its regional presence and broadening its digital and mobility service offering on the continent.
In Angola, Yango currently operates across three provinces — Luanda, Benguela and Lobito. In February, around 200 vehicles were integrated into Yango's operations through a partnership with Grupo Cosal.
