Samsung Launches AI-Powered Refrigerator to Optimize Energy Consumption

Samsung has unveiled the RF70H smart refrigerator, a premium model that combines sophisticated design, connectivity, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based features to optimize energy consumption and simplify daily household routines.

According to the South Korean company, the refrigerator was developed to meet the growing demand for integrated, modern kitchens. One of its key features is its built-in design, which has a side clearance of just 0.4 centimeters—which the manufacturer claims is the narrowest in its class. “This solution allows for a more seamless integration into custom-designed kitchens without compromising the appliance’s internal capacity,” the company emphasized.

With a capacity of 664 liters, the RF70H uses SpaceMax technology, which reduces the thickness of the interior walls to expand available space without increasing the appliance’s external dimensions. The model also includes a sliding shelf to accommodate larger containers and a smart ventilation system that helps ensure even temperature distribution.

In terms of connectivity, the refrigerator integrates with the SmartThings ecosystem, allowing for remote temperature control, alerts, and energy consumption monitoring via AI Energy Mode. This feature uses artificial intelligence to optimize the appliance’s operation, promoting greater efficiency and reducing electricity costs.

Additional features include a 26.7-centimeter-tall water dispenser, suitable for larger bottles, and the Dual Auto Ice Maker, capable of producing two types of ice: traditional cubes and small ice pieces known as Ice Bites.

The appliance is also powered by a Digital Inverter compressor, which promises lower noise levels and greater durability, and comes with a ten-year warranty from the manufacturer.

According to Ana Beatriz Azevedo, white goods product manager at Samsung Brazil, the RF70H reinforces the company’s strategy of developing appliances that combine connectivity, efficiency, and design, providing consumers with a more practical and integrated experience.

The refrigerator is already available in the Brazilian market through the brand’s official channels, with prices starting at around $3,600; the company has not yet announced its official launch in other markets.
