Angolan technology firm Intellico is stepping up investment in professional training for young people as part of a broader push to accelerate digital transformation across Angola, the institution’s executive board president, Reinaldo Viriato, said on Tuesday in Luanda.
Speaking at the second edition of the National Artificial Intelligence Forum (FNIA), Viriato said the training programmes are designed specifically to meet the demands of digital transformation and the evolving requirements of the country’s labour market.
Viriato identified the development of human capital as one of the most pressing challenges facing the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) in Angola, noting that skills gaps remain a significant structural obstacle.
In his view, continuous professional training enables young people and working professionals to effectively deploy advanced technologies and meaningfully contribute to the digital transition currently under way in the country.
He also highlighted the need to promote awareness initiatives aimed at mainstreaming the use of AI across Angola, particularly at a time when the country urgently needs to scale up the production of technology specialists.
According to available data, Intellico has already trained approximately 1,000 young Angolans in artificial intelligence.
Intellico is an institution focused on technological capacity-building, digital innovation and cybersecurity, operating across youth and professional training as well as the provision of security solutions tailored to the realities of the Angolan market.
The National Artificial Intelligence Forum is being held under the theme ‘From Analysis to Decision, From Data to Impact’.
The event brings together policy-makers, investors, academics and entrepreneurs from critical sectors of the economy, with a focus on telecommunications, technology, energy, health, finance, industry, mobility, education and public administration.
