Alatpres Technologies, a Kenyan-based startup, has launched a mobile app for public safety and data analytics.
Launched in 2020, Alatpres develops technologies that are designed to improve public safety by empowering communities and various entities to enable greater collaboration and connectivity.
“Our goal is to foster greater collaboration between communities and security providers, as well as promote a proactive and targeted approach to public safety management in Kenya and Africa,” said Benedict Njue, the company’s founder and chief executive officer (CEO), Disrupt Africa.
The Alatpres app is designed to provide a crowd-sourced response and intelligence system by increasing community and institutional engagement in rapid reporting and response to safety and security issues and other events of public interest.
It allows users to create response groups within their homes, residential locations, workplaces, places of worship, and institutions of learning, which are then configured by integrating them with local first responders.
“This allows for faster sharing of alerts, intelligence, and situational information in a single tab for a pre-configured response group, enabling faster response,” said Njue.
“We believe that having a pre-configured rapid response system can make all the difference in any emergency situation and can save thousands of lives and property that would have otherwise been lost.”
The solution also integrates modern data analytics tools that subject user-generated content to analysis to generate actionable safety insights that can be used by various stakeholders and decision makers in the public safety industry.
“These insights will be useful in predicting and investigating crimes and incidents, mapping incident hotspots and generally help promote a proactive culture to public safety management in Kenya and Africa,” said Njue.
“We believe that when the data is well analyzed we will be able to connect dots between various incidences.”
Alatpres plans to generate revenue through user subscriptions, ads and big data.
