At the showcase of the third edition of the M-Pesa FinTalks conference in Mozambique, held last Thursday (11), the M-Pesa Africa Open API platform was officially launched. According to Evans Meyo, Head of Payment Integration at M-Pesa Africa, this technological solution promises to transform the payment ecosystem in Mozambique and accelerate financial inclusion across the African continent.
According to Meyo, the Open API was designed to be an integration portal accessible to entrepreneurs, businesses, and developers, enabling fast and secure connections for both domestic and international payments.
“The platform includes solutions for local e-commerce, business-to-business payments, recurring subscriptions, and even cross-border transfers, meeting the needs of various sectors, from small businesses to non-governmental organizations,” he stated.
The executive explained that with the platform it will be possible to carry out transactions across several African markets, including Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Congo, Ethiopia, and Lesotho, without digital border barriers.
Evans Meyo also emphasized that the goal is for the Open API to become a gateway for Mozambican developers to create solutions not only for the domestic market but also for the entire region. With more than 65 million active customers across the markets where it operates, Meyo believes that the Open API will be a catalyst for inclusive digital growth, connecting businesses, startups, influencers, and organizations to the global payments ecosystem.
The third edition of M-Pesa FinTalks took place in Maputo and featured discussions on innovation, sustainability, and economic development, as well as presentations of solutions that contribute to financial inclusion.
