LinkedIn is being sued by a platform user in California, USA. The company is accused of spying on private messages, collecting information, and sharing it with other companies to train its Artificial Intelligence (AI) models. According to the BBC, the plaintiff, a LinkedIn member, claims the lawsuit is not only on their behalf but also represents “everyone else” in a similar situation.
The lawsuit accuses LinkedIn of “behavior suggesting that [the company] was aware it was violating contractual promises and privacy standards.”
“LinkedIn’s actions indicate a pattern of attempting to erase evidence,” alleges the plaintiff, who demands the company pay $1,000 to each affected user, along with additional compensation for breach of contract.
A LinkedIn representative, however, has stated that the lawsuit is based on “false allegations and without merit.”
