The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, on Tuesday in Luanda, advocated for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to modernize parliamentary systems. She was speaking at the workshop on the challenges and opportunities of using artificial intelligence in parliaments, an initiative of the National Assembly held as part of the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of National Independence.
According to the parliamentary leader, “Artificial intelligence stands as a powerful tool for the modernization of parliamentary processes and procedures,” although she also acknowledged the risks associated with its use, warning that “inappropriate use of this tool could be harmful if not properly regulated.”

Carolina Cerqueira highlighted the dual nature of AI implementation: while it fosters progress, it also poses threats to traditional security measures. Her remarks were made during the Workshop on the Challenges and Opportunities of Using Artificial Intelligence in Parliaments, organized by the Parliamentary Academy.
