Only 31% of banking institutions in Angola currently publish sustainability reports, according to Denise Pinheiro, Deputy Coordinator of the Sustainability Working Group at the Angolan Banks Association (ABANC), speaking on Wednesday, July 1, during the 4th Conference on Sustainability in Banking.
Speaking during the panel discussion titled “The Banking Sector’s Perspective on Sustainable Finance,” Pinheiro also revealed that 35% of banks have a formal sustainability policy in place, while only 23% have a dedicated department responsible for sustainability-related matters.
According to Pinheiro, Angola’s banking sector has made progress in adopting Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, including the establishment of internal sustainability structures, greater transparency, and the integration of sustainable governance principles into business operations.
