Banco Yetu’s Profit Increases Sixfold in Q2 2026

According to the bank’s trial balance, Profit Before Tax (PBT) rose from AOA 796.22 million (US$873,090) in the second quarter of 2025 to AOA 4.85 billion (US$5.31 million) in the same period of 2026, marking the bank’s strongest second-quarter financial performance in the past three years.

In absolute terms, Banco Yetu increased its profit by AOA 4.05 billion (US$4.44 million), delivering earnings six times higher than those recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

In terms of its balance sheet, the institution led by Paulo da Cunha Fontes posted moderate asset growth. Total assets increased by 2.41%, rising from AOA 195.22 billion (US$214.07 million) in the second quarter of 2025 to AOA 199.93 billion (US$219.08 million) during the period under review.

The loan portfolio remained the bank’s largest asset component, accounting for 31.20% of total assets. Despite its significance, the portfolio declined by 4.42% year-on-year to AOA 62.37 billion (US$68.35 million).

The securities and investment portfolio also recorded a negative performance, decreasing by 3.10% year-on-year to AOA 59.23 billion (US$64.91 million). Nevertheless, it remained the second-largest asset category, representing 29.63% of the bank’s total asset base.

The bank’s liabilities increased by 4.19%, rising from AOA 152.56 billion (US$167.28 million) in the second quarter of 2025 to AOA 158.94 billion (US$174.17 million).

Customer deposits continued to be Banco Yetu’s primary source of funding. This item grew marginally by 0.03% to AOA 130.31 billion (US$142.80 million), accounting for 81.99% of total liabilities.

By contrast, shareholders’ equity declined by 13% year-on-year, falling from AOA 41.87 billion (US$45.92 million) in the second quarter of 2025 to AOA 36.14 billion (US$39.60 million) in the second quarter of 2026.
