The Angolan government has authorized the use of funds from the Road and Emergency Works Fund to finance projects at the National Museum of Natural History and Cangandala National Park, with a total value of around €13 million.
The projects involve restoring structural stability at the National Museum of Natural History and interventions to improve access to Cangandala National Park, in Malanje province, according to a presidential decree obtained by Lusa.
The work at the National Museum of Natural History, located at Largo do Kinaxixi, aims to address the accelerated deterioration of the building, which presents structural defects and pathologies that pose an imminent danger to workers and visitors, the decree states.

The decree authorizes the awarding, through an emergency contracting process, of the construction project to restore the museum’s structural stability, valued at 4.6 billion kwanzas (€4.27 million), as well as the hiring of project supervision services, valued at 161 million kwanzas (€150,000).
In the same decree, the President also authorizes the use of the Road and Emergency Works Fund to finance other interventions deemed urgent, namely the installation of two metal bridges in Cangandala National Park, in Malanje province, over a distance of 31 kilometers.
The construction project for the bridges and the improvement of traffic on access roads is estimated at 9.3 billion kwanzas (€8.62 million), plus the cost of supervision, totaling 232 million kwanzas (€216,000).
According to the decree, the interventions in Malanje are justified by the high volume of flash floods in the province, which hinder safe access to Cangandala National Park, making the installation of metal infrastructure necessary to ensure road circulation.
The Road and Emergency Works Fund is a public mechanism designed to finance urgent interventions in critical infrastructure, activated for exceptional works related to structural safety and access restoration.
