The Apostolic Nuncio in Angola announced on Tuesday that Pope Leo XIV will visit the country, with the programme and date still to be agreed with the Angolan authorities.
The announcement was made in Luanda by Kryspin Dubiel, who said that the Pope intends to visit the African continent on a trip that will include Angola, having accepted an invitation from the Angolan Episcopal Conference and from Angola’s President, João Lourenço.
According to the Apostolic Nunciature, the forthcoming visit is expected to strengthen relations between the Holy See and Angola, as well as to reinforce the message of peace, social cohesion and dialogue. Although no specific details have yet been disclosed, the visit is anticipated to include meetings with political and religious leaders and moments of engagement with the faithful.
