The Ministry of Health (MINSA) will focus on the specialization of 38,000 technicians from various professional categories over a five-year period, announced Health Minister Sílvia Lutucuta on Friday in Luanda.
Speaking after the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation — aimed at ensuring quality training for higher-level staff in the fields of Medical and Health Sciences — the minister stated that over 100,000 health professionals require short-, medium-, and long-term training.
“This agreement strengthens the institutional relationship between the two sectors. Training in the health field involves a great deal of clinical practice, which relies on healthcare units, so this is an opportunity to combine theoretical education with hospital-based practice,” she explained.
The collaboration, she added, is two-way and includes the involvement of professors, researchers, and technicians from the higher education sector specializing in health. To ensure the success of the project, the ministry is relying on training and internship centers.
The Government, she highlighted, is investing in infrastructure to ensure higher education training in the health sector, as well as scientific research. “The ministry is concerned with community health, so we want to invest in the construction of more primary health units.”
Regarding the agreement, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Albano Lopes Ferreira, described it as a significant step in strengthening staff training.
