Angola’s Participation in Tourism Investment Platform to Cost USD 1.5 Million

The President has stressed the need to integrate the country into a global platform aimed at structuring, promoting, and presenting tourism investment projects and opportunities.

The Angolan government considers it important for the country to be part of a structure that facilitates priority investment projects in the tourism sector and has approved, through a presidential decree, participation in the International Tourism Investment Platform, a process that will cost the public treasury USD 1.5 million (around 1.37 billion kwanzas).

The measure, contained in Presidential Decree No. 247/26 of June 22 signed by João Lourenço, will allow Angola to be associated with a platform designed to structure tourism investment opportunities and connect them directly with international institutional investors.

In the document, accessed by Economia & Mercado, the President emphasizes the need to integrate the country into this global platform dedicated to structuring, promoting, and presenting tourism projects and investment opportunities, with a view to the technical structuring of high-potential national tourism projects, developed by the World Tourism Organization under the UNT-PASS initiative.

The Minister of Tourism has been delegated authority, with the possibility of sub-delegation, to represent the Angolan state within the World Tourism Organization in the framework of this initiative, and to coordinate the identification and prioritization of national tourism projects to be included in the platform.

João Lourenço also instructed Márcio Daniel to approve the technical, institutional, and promotional documents necessary for Angola’s participation in the program, as well as to ensure coordination with other government departments, public entities, tourism operators, investors, and relevant partners, and to monitor the implementation of the initiative and report periodically to the President on its results.

The Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, was instructed to mobilize the financial resources required to cover the approved expenditure and to ensure payment is made directly to the World Tourism Organization, as the multilateral entity promoting the UNT-PASS platform.
