The Chairman of the Board of Directors of SODIAM, Bravo da Rosa, recently announced that the country is making efforts to ensure that diamond production reaches 15 million carats in 2026, so that, with the expected recovery of market prices, strong revenue results can be achieved.
According to the head of the Angolan Diamond Trading Company, who spoke on the sidelines of the Business Forum for the Promotion of Mining Investment in Angola, held in South Africa, the goal is to match or surpass the revenue level recorded by the country last year.
Despite the reduction in the average selling price of national rough diamonds, Angola generated $1.7 billion in 2025 from the sale of 17 million carats, the official said. “Thanks to the increase in quantities exported in 2025, driven by the launch of new modules at the Luele mine, we managed to ensure that revenue volume in 2025 exceeded that of 2024,” he stated.
However, Bravo da Rosa explained that the higher number of carats exported in 2025 was due to stockpiles of surplus products from 2024, which in some way influenced the increase in revenue collected. “Production remained at around 15 million carats, but with the addition of what had been stockpiled in 2024, we were able to export 17 million carats, generating $1.7 billion for the country and producing companies.”
