Secil Marítima carried 118,800 passengers on the Cabinda-Soyo-Luanda maritime route between January and September this year, a roughly 20% increase on the same period in 2025, the company's Cabinda representative, Artur Carvalho, said on Friday.
Speaking to journalists at the reception ceremony for the new Ro-Pax ferryboat Tchiowa, Carvalho said the carrier had averaged 1,050 passengers per week over the nine-month period, with a total of 125,104 tickets sold.
He added that Secil Marítima had also moved 40,000 tonnes of general cargo, 365 containers, and 798 light and heavy vehicles along the route during the same period.
Carvalho said the entry into service of the Tchiowa would bring a marked improvement to both passenger and freight operations on the route.
"With two regular voyages from Monday to Friday, plus two additional weekly sailings operated by the Tchiowa, we are confident that the movement of people and goods will improve considerably," he said.
With the addition of the new vessel, Secil Marítima now operates a fleet of four craft on the Cabinda-Soyo-Luanda route.
