Angola and Egypt marked a new chapter in their bilateral relations today with the signing of an agreement in the field of Public Works, during President João Lourenço’s official visit to Cairo.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, confirmed the signing of the legal instrument, which had already been negotiated between the two countries.

According to the minister, additional initiatives in the telecommunications and aviation sectors are currently under negotiation.

During the visit, the Angolan Head of State will meet with Egyptian business leaders at the Waldorf Astoria Heliopolis hotel.

Téte António noted that Egypt has an active business community with strong interest in the Angolan market.

The official program also includes a visit to the “Pharmaceutical City”, where Angola is seeking opportunities in the field of medicine production.

Egypt has a pharmaceutical industry with a presence in several African countries, along with significant developments in the electricity and agriculture sectors.

The visit takes place in the context of Angola’s leadership of the African Union and preparations for the upcoming International Conference on Infrastructure.
