Entrepreneurs at the Viana Industrial Hub (PIV) spend an average of $15,000 per month, equivalent to 13.755 million kwanzas, on fuel to power diesel generators and cover technical maintenance caused by the poor quality of electricity supplied by the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE).
The complaints were raised on Thursday, March 12, during the “First 2026 Edition of Café do Pólo,” organized by the Viana Industrial Hub to bring industries together, identify key challenges, and improve the business environment and operational conditions at PIV.
During the meeting, business owners highlighted the poor condition of roads, weak electricity supply, lack of sewage infrastructure, and other issues that directly impact production and the normal operation of industries. Jerónimo Domingos, CEO of Pandora, a bakery and pastry company, complained about power cuts that damage transformers and require additional investments in equipment repairs.
“The difficulties are more pronounced during the rainy season, when there is a risk of heavy rainfall. Electricity is automatically cut off, and as you know, we have to invest heavily in diesel, generator maintenance, etc.,” he said.
