The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Miguêns de Oliveira, announced this Tuesday that his department is finalizing the reorganization process of the Strategic Food Reserve (REA) to strengthen its role in the country’s food security.
In statements to ANGOP, at the end of the 19th edition of Café CIPRA, themed “Angola at the Center of African Diplomacy,” he said that after completing the reorganization, the instrument will be publicly discussed and approved by the Government.
Without providing further details, the minister said that following government approval, the establishment of the REA, its financing method, and how it will contribute to ensuring national food security will be announced.
Created by Presidential Order No. 102/18, dated July 31, the Strategic Food Reserve (REA) is a stock of essential food products aimed at guaranteeing access to food at fair prices for the population, avoiding shortages and price speculation.
