Food Sector Factory in Luanda Employs Over One Thousand People and Is Expected to Begin Operations This Year

The Nutriavele factory, located in the municipality of Viana (Luanda Province), which is currently in an experimental phase, is expected to begin operations this year. Currently employing 1,026 people, the unit plans to reach 3,000 employees once fully operational.

Recently, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, visited the Angola Beverages and Food Industrial Hub, at the Kikuxi unit of the Nutriavele factory. The facility is established on a total area of 510,000 square metres, equivalent to 51 hectares, and belongs to the Silvestre Tulumba Group. It integrates pasta and beverage factories, a wheat flour mill, an edible oil refinery and dairy plants, among others.

Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, the official considered that the country needs more transport infrastructure to ensure that raw materials and final products reach the population under adequate conditions. He also stressed that Angola equally needs more warehouses and storage facilities.

Quoted by Angop, Lima Massano also stated that, in the first quarter of this year, a considerable number of companies in the manufacturing sector are expected to begin operations.

According to the official, thanks to the work currently underway, the country will be on the path towards food autonomy and sovereignty by 2026.

On the occasion, he also highlighted that the food processing industry recorded growth of around 12.13% up to the third quarter of 2025.

“It is a very positive sign, but it also brings increased opportunities for other sectors of the economy, because what we naturally want to see from transformation and investments of this magnitude is that they attract other operators and create further opportunities,” he said, quoted by Angop.

Lima Massano also took the opportunity to reiterate the Executive’s commitment to continue supporting national producers and investors who invest in the country, assuring that the Government remains firm and available to help overcome difficulties whenever it is within its reach.
