Seventeen cooperatives and ten associations of peasant families in Lunda-Norte, affiliated with Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, are focusing this agricultural year on promoting fish farming and aquaculture projects as part of the region’s hunger eradication program.
This information was presented last weekend in the city of Dundo by Governor Filomena Elizabete Miza during a lecture that brought together experts and the local population.
According to the Governor of Lunda-Norte, in addition to these two projects, cooperatives and peasant family associations are also developing various crops, particularly cassava, corn, and rice.
Filomena Miza noted that the government has been implementing concrete policies aimed at providing social assistance to ensure the well-being of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland and their families.
“The Government of Lunda-Norte will continue to provide social assistance within the framework of poverty reduction policies, through municipal administrations, to promote the social inclusion of former combatants by encouraging self-employment programs to generate income and improve the economic and social conditions of their families,” she stated.
The province of Lunda-Norte has seven thousand former combatants.
