Bengo Gains Car Parts Factory

The factory, named Phaeton Industry, is located in the Sino Ord Industrial Park in the municipality of Barra do Dande, Bengo province, and will manufacture spare parts for vehicles, such as hub discs and drums. With a $4 million investment, the plant will produce 6,000 accessories daily for various vehicle brands, including Toyota, Suzuki, Hyundai, and Kia, until the second phase of the project is completed.

With the factory’s opening, 50 young people from Bengo province have secured their first direct jobs.

The ribbon-cutting and unveiling ceremony, held on Thursday, was led by the provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba.

On the occasion, the governor expressed satisfaction with the project’s arrival in the region, as it creates 50 new jobs for the youth.

“It helps ease unemployment in the province, as 50 young people have secured their first direct jobs. The national market needs industries like this to reduce the import of spare parts. The raw material is local and sand-based,” she emphasized.

Accessory Production

On the same occasion, Phaeton Industry’s general director, Terry Lou, stated that the factory is fully equipped to start producing parts and exporting them to other markets.

“We are going to produce many types of parts for vehicles of different brands. We’re currently manufacturing hub discs and drums. At the moment, we have an order for 15,000 tonnes of hub discs and drums for Nigeria,” he said.

Later this year, the Sino Ord Industrial Park will inaugurate two more industrial projects in Bengo province.
