As of this Tuesday, July 7, the municipality of Bom Jesus, in the province of Icolo and Bengo, is home to the Phoenix Bridge Industrial Complex, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Miguêns de Oliveira. With the facility now operational, 250 people have found employment, 180 of whom are Angolan citizens from six provinces across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Rui Miguêns de Oliveira emphasized that the newly inaugurated industrial facility is a concrete demonstration of the Angolan government’s vision to promote the diversification of the national economy, import substitution, and the creation of skilled jobs for Angolans.
He also noted that this industrial complex meets a significant portion of the domestic demand for construction materials and, consequently, reduces the import bill and increases foreign exchange savings.
In Rui Miguêns’ view, the inauguration of Phoenix Bridge signals to the country and to international investors that Angola is building its industrial base with quality, technology, and stable, reliable, and lasting partnerships.
The project is located on a total area of 12.5 hectares, represents an initial investment of 30 million dollars, and comprises five manufacturing facilities specializing in the production of construction materials: electrical wires and cables, XPS insulation, marble and granite slabs, solid wood products, and ventilation ducts.
The inauguration was attended by the Secretary to the President of the Republic for the Productive Sector, the governor of Icolo and Bengo, the Chinese ambassador to Angola, and the president of the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce, among other guests.
