Aluminum Production to Begin in December

Huatong Angola Industry will inaugurate the first phase of its aluminum production project on December 27, located in the Barra do Dande Free Trade Zone, in Bengo Province.

The $200 million investment marks the beginning of domestic aluminum production in Angola and is expected to create 1,200 direct jobs in its initial phase.

The announcement was made by the company’s Chairman of the Board, Zhang Wendon, following an audience with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

The executive stated that “all technical and operational conditions are in place to begin production,” emphasizing that the project “is ready to start operations, marking the official launch of aluminum production in Angola.”

Meanwhile, Secretary of State for Trade, Augusta Fortes, highlighted the inter-ministerial support behind the project’s implementation, noting the involvement of the Ministries of Energy and Water, Industry and Trade, AIPEX, and the Provincial Government of Bengo in creating the necessary conditions for the project’s success.
