The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, received ExxonMobil Vice President Hunter Farris on Wednesday, November 12, to review the state of cooperation between Angola and the U.S. oil and gas multinational. The meeting reinforced both parties’ commitment to the continuity and strengthening of their energy partnership.
During the audience, Hunter Farris provided the minister with information on ExxonMobil’s activities in Angola, particularly in Block 15, one of the country’s main oil exploration areas. According to a statement on the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas official website, discussions included plans for the renewal and extension of the operational life of oil assets.
Farris emphasized the company’s enthusiasm for the Block 15 renewal project, highlighting the positive impact it will have on Angola’s economy and the energy sector. “We are excited about renewing this asset, which will extend its technical life, generate new volumes, and create more value for Angola,” said the ExxonMobil vice president.
The company representative also highlighted ExxonMobil’s central role in driving Angola’s oil sector, noting that new investments will strengthen oil production. He added that the company remains committed to supporting the country’s sustainable development through the modernization of its projects.
According to Farris, the strategy of asset expansion and optimization aligns with the priorities set by the Angolan government, particularly in increasing production and creating local economic opportunities. The multinational executive emphasized that the goal is to ensure operational efficiency and longevity in the country.
