OPAIA Motors recorded 600 vehicle pre-sales over the six days of the 2026 International Fair of Angola (FILDA), the executive director of Grupo OPAIA, Adriano Lamas, announced on Sunday at the Special Economic Zone in Icolo e Bengo.
OPAIA, Angola’s first domestically manufactured vehicle brand — now approaching its first year on the market — made its trade-fair debut at FILDA 2026, which closed on Sunday.
According to Lamas, the 600 units pre-sold span all four models in the OPAIA range, covering light passenger vehicles and commercial cargo variants.
The executive framed OPAIA Motors’ presence at the country’s largest trade fair as a direct response to Angola’s push to diversify its economy beyond oil revenues.
Lamas noted that OPAIA Motors is meeting the national economic challenge by establishing the boldness of a home-grown vehicle brand, adding that it remains the only such brand currently operating in the Angolan market.
He further highlighted that the assembly and commercialisation of vehicles in Angola represents a significant step towards industrialisation, job creation and reducing the country’s dependence on imported goods.
“OPAIA Motors’ participation has been positive and we will be present at the next fair. The experience at this edition has been satisfying — there were many visits to our stand, a sign that these vehicles are winning over Angolan consumers,” Lamas said.
The OPAIA Motors stand drew strong interest throughout the fair, attracting business owners, private buyers and prospective distributors keen to learn more about the four models on display.
The 41st edition of FILDA brought together 2,348 exhibitors from Angola and abroad.
