Sixteen workers at the Dugong cement factory in Matutuíne district, Maputo province, have tested positive for the new coronavirus, company representative Elisa Machava has announced.
The factory, the largest in southern Africa, will close temporarily for disinfection.
“Those who tested positive will not leave the factory. They will stay there, so that they can be monitored. Those who tested negative will leave the factory, because we want to carry out a thorough disinfection.
At the moment, we do not yet have an assessment of how many days or months this situation will last. We will continue evaluating as time goes by to see when we can resume activities,” Elisa Machava said.
