Coca-Cola Mozambique Maintains Workforce

The wave of worker redundancies that is happening at the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta (Georgia), the United States of America (USA), and elsewhere in the world will not affect workers working for the same multinational in Mozambique.

The company plans to eliminate more than 2,000 jobs worldwide as part of the restructuring of the company, a process that has been accelerated by the negative effects of covid-19.

The redundancies will have the greatest impact in the US, where 1200 workers will be laid off, which corresponds to 12 percent of Coca-Cola’s workforce in that country, with a turnover of between US$350 million and US$550 million in compensation.

Meanwhile, Francisco Tembe, director of Public Relations and Communication at Coca-Cola Mozambique, said on Sunday that Mozambique was outside the process of rationalising the workforce.

“So far there is no plan in Mozambique to reduce staff as part of the restructuring of the company or because of the negative effects of covid-19.
