STA Seguros is preparing to strengthen its executive leadership and shareholder structure with the appointment of Armando Mota, who left the insurer SanlamAllianz to assume the role of CEO of STA, in a process still subject to approval by the Angolan Insurance Regulation and Supervision Agency (ARSEG).

“Armando Mota has been appointed to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with his designation subject to applicable legal and regulatory formalities, while also holding a qualified stake in the company. The appointment reflects a clear commitment to aligning executive leadership with long-term shareholder engagement,” the insurer said in a statement.
The move aims to reinforce STA Seguros’ shareholder structure and corporate governance. Accordingly, the Board of Directors will now consist of seven members, with Carlos Graça de Almeida remaining as Chairman of the Board of the insurer.
Armando Mota brings extensive experience of more than 29 years in the sector. His career includes leadership positions at Fidelidade in Portugal (1996–2010), before moving to Angola, where he founded Universal Seguros in 2011—a company that later became Fidelidade Angola—which he led as CEO for 13 years.
