TAAG – Linhas Aéreas de Angola has launched a new international mobile connectivity service, enabling passengers to purchase digital mobile data plans that provide immediate internet access across more than 190 destinations without requiring a physical SIM card swap.
The service, already operational, stems from a strategic partnership between Angola’s national carrier and Kolet, a technology company specialising in eSIM connectivity solutions.
In an initial phase, the offering is being communicated to passengers via pre-boarding messages sent by SMS and email, covering all of TAAG’s markets with the exception of Angola itself. The solution will subsequently be integrated into the airline’s Online Check-in and Manage My Booking platforms.
According to the airline, the partnership forms part of its ancillary revenue development strategy, through the provision of complementary services designed to enhance the passenger experience and diversify the company’s income streams.
With the new service, passengers can activate a mobile data plan before departure, ensuring connectivity upon arrival at their destination. The measure aims to address the needs of international travellers by offering greater convenience, flexibility and peace of mind during journeys.
In the near term, the objective is to make the service available to all passengers and drive uptake, with growing adoption expected particularly among customers travelling to international destinations who seek practical, cost-effective and reliable internet access solutions.
TAAG added that the partnership’s performance will be monitored through key metrics including conversion rates, the number of activations and revenue generated, allowing the airline to assess the initiative’s impact and identify opportunities for optimisation.
Kolet specialises in mobile connectivity solutions based on eSIM technology and provides coverage across more than 190 destinations through a network of international mobile operators. The company maintains partnerships with a range of travel industry organisations, including international airlines.
