Over 99% of Airlines Already Operating at AIAAN – Airlink Last to Complete Move in March

Airlink is scheduled to transfer on March 1, a date expected to mark the completion of the migration to António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN).

The transfer of international flights from 4 de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda to AIAAN, located in Icolo e Bengo, is expected to be completed next March, according to Soraia de Sousa, Director of Airport and Cargo Operations at the AIAAN management authority.

According to Sousa, over 99% of international airlines are already operating at AIAAN, with only the South African carrier Airlink remaining, whose transfer is scheduled for March 1—the date expected to mark the final closure of the migration to the “New Airport.”

On Monday, February 2, Royal Air Maroc, Turkish Airlines, and ASKY Airlines began operating from AIAAN, establishing direct connections between Angola and key hubs in Casablanca (Morocco), Istanbul (Turkey), and Lomé (Togo).

In statements to Rádio Nacional de Angola, Soraia de Sousa described the passenger flow since the start of the transfer process as “satisfactory.” She added that more than 188,000 passengers have already been processed on international flights since operations began.

The transfer of international flights to AIAAN began on October 19 of last year, with TAAG, the national carrier, inaugurating operations.

Currently, international airlines operating at AIAAN include TAP Air Portugal, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, Lufthansa, Air France, and Qatar Airways.
