Angola has established a National Commission for the Monitoring of the Implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision, a new interministerial body tasked with coordinating the country’s application of African air transport liberalisation measures and representing Angola within the supervisory mechanisms of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).
The commission was created by Presidential Dispatch No. 257/26, signed on 28 July by President João Lourenço.
According to the decree, the commission will operate as an interministerial coordination body under the operational leadership of the Minister of Transport. Its mandate is to oversee the gradual opening of Angolan airspace in line with the commitments the country undertook when it joined the Single African Air Transport Market in 2023.
