The municipality of Palanca, in Angola's Huíla province, is positioning itself as a key supplier of eggs and broiler chicken to provincial and national markets, leveraging its six operational aviaries to expand its share of the country's poultry sector.
Municipal administrator Eva Lombe disclosed the figures to reporters, saying that Palanca possesses favourable conditions for poultry farming and is already generating significant output across its production facilities.
Of the six aviaries currently operating in the municipality, four are dedicated to egg-laying and broiler production. Together, they generate more than 9,000 eggs per day and over 4,000 broiler chickens per production cycle, supplying primarily the municipalities of Humpata, Lubango and Palanca itself.
Lombe did not specify the total poultry headcount but noted that the municipality also holds considerable livestock numbers across several species, with cattle, goats and sheep being the most significant.
"The livestock population in the municipality comprises more than 8,000 head of cattle, 5,000 goats, 3,000 sheep and 3,000 pigs. As for production, we have the capacity to produce 10,000 eggs per day and 4,500 broiler chickens per cycle," Lombe said.
