Government Ensures that the Entire Rice Production Surplus in Chókwè, Gaza is Absorbed

The government ensures that the entire surplus production of rice that was registered in the current agricultural campaign, in Chókwè district, in Gaza province, is absorbed.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correia, announced in the Parliament that the production will be absorbed by the rice processing plant (CAIC), which is already operating again after being closed for three years.

Celso Correia said that the Chókwè Agro-Industrial Complex (CAIC) started on Wednesday contacts with Chókwè producers for the acquisition of all the surplus rice production.

” Allow me to use this opportunity to convey to all our producers who recorded surplus production on account of this SUSTAINABLE productivity increase from about 1.5 tonnes per hectare to between 4 and 6 tonnes that the CAIC rice processing plant, which had been closed for over three years, is back in operation and will absorb all the rice production from Chókwè district” he said.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development gave assurances that the purchase price of surplus rice will allow the product to be marketed at affordable prices.
