Angola’s Agriculture and Forestry Minister Isaac dos Anjos said on Thursday that the government’s primary ambition is to attract new producers and both domestic and foreign investors into the agricultural sector, as the country looks to scale farm output and open new export markets.
Dos Anjos made the remarks to journalists at the close of an inspection visit to the Agritech Show Luanda 2026 agribusiness fair, which is running through Sunday at Fazenda Quiminha in the municipality of Cabiri, Icolo e Bengo province.
“The most important thing is that we open markets that attract them. That is what we have been doing,” the minister said.
He added that the government intends to open access to Asian and Middle Eastern markets, which he described as new and high-growth destinations that would allow Angola’s agricultural sector to scale up significantly.
Dos Anjos also noted that ongoing conflicts in various parts of the world were creating an opening for Angola to enter large-scale agricultural production. “That is what we are trying to do,” he said.
The minister highlighted the participation of Portugal and Brazil in the Agritech Show as particularly significant, saying their presence demonstrated that Angola could serve as a springboard for internationalisation. “From Angola, they can also go international and win new markets together with Angolans,” he said.
Dos Anjos also pointed to the digitisation and innovation on display at the fair as a signal to young Angolans that modern agriculture is a sector of genuine opportunity.
The Agritech Show Luanda 2026 brings together 60 Angolan and foreign companies and farms. The event runs through Sunday and features round-table discussions, conferences, agricultural machinery displays, field produce exhibitions and visits to production sites.
